Secondary School (Grades 6-12)

The Learning Center's Secondary School is designed to prepare students for life after high school. Once students leave TLC's elementary program, they enter our middle school program for three years. Our middle school students follow traditional academic courses as well as important supplementary courses and projects. Students in our high school are exposed to academically rigorous courses that prepare them for a career in the workforce or for college.

Students in both departments are introduced to courses in the basic areas outlined below, in addition to elective courses in high school.

  • English Language Arts
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • American Sign Language
  • Physical Education
  • Art
  • Health

Individual support services such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, and counseling services, are available to students either one-to-one or in small groups based on their need as determined by the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process.

Extra-curricular team sports are another important part of the Secondary School program. High school students also have the opportunity to take drivers education and other post-secondary training options such as summertime internships or mainstreamed classes at nearby high schools.
