The Audiology Clinic at The Learning Center for the Deaf has extended its services to include Telehealth in order to accommodate more patients during the Covid-19 shutdown.
Dr. Lydia Colón, Director of the Audiology Clinic, says the opportunity to expand to Telehealth services is a great benefit to patients during a time when face-to-face appointments are not possible.
“Our audiologists and support staff are ready to assist patients in any way possible,” Colón said. “We have worked hard to accommodate virtual services for our patients, from basic consultation services to troubleshooting assistance, because we know there is a need to continue providing support for hearing aid devices during this trying time. Otherwise, our hard of hearing patients may run the risk of becoming isolated and/or struggle in accessing important information.”
The Telehealth services are by way of virtual appointment and can include the following:
- Troubleshooting most hearing aid problems
- Guidance through cleaning and maintenance concerns
- Completing hearing aid consultations (if a recent hearing test is available)
- Remote hearing aid programming (hearing aid and software dependent)
Appointments are quick and easy to set up through HIPAA-compliant web-based platforms. All payments will be handled over the phone or through our website. The Audiology Clinic accepts most commercial as well as public health insurance plans. Telehealth services will be billed according to your insurance policy plan guidelines.
