We are thrilled to welcome Mike Higgins as our new Director of Instruction and Assessment! Mike is a doctoral student at Boston University studying Language and Literacy, with extensive experience in deaf education, teacher preparation, and curriculum development.
He previously taught preschool at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School and mathematics at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf at Gallaudet University. More recently, he has served as an instructor, prepracticum supervisor, and research assistant at Boston University.
Mike is also a founding partner of Hands Land, where he developed a 40-week curriculum used in schools for the deaf nationwide. His work focuses on strengthening bilingual education, instructional practice, and language development for deaf learners.
