The Learning Center for the Deaf (TLC) wants to thank The Rotary Club of Framingham for a recent grant which will help purchase new artwork for its outpatient Audiology Clinic.
TLC Audiology Clinic Director Lydia Colón, AuD, CCC-A, said her goal is to purchase pieces by Deaf artists, specifically Deaf artists of color, and is actively searching within small businesses and online shops to find the right pieces to display.
The first piece that was purchased was completed by Chuck Baird, a prominent Deaf artist.
The recent service grant award is one of many given annually by the Rotary Club of Framingham to local businesses and organizations who help to shape the culture and community of Framingham and the MetroWest area.
“We feel The Learning Center for the Deaf is the leader in its field. It's wonderful that they have helped so many people,” said Andy Toorock, director of the Rotary Club of Framingham.
TLC’s Audiology Clinic supports routine and diagnostic services and testing to all ages across the MetroWest community, including hearing aid fittings and sales, cochlear implant evaluation and activation, custom molds and in-service screenings to community businesses and schools. A 2019 and 2020 Best of MetroWest winner, the clinic was also recently certified as a Level 2 Department of Public Health (DPH) provider to offer newborn hearing screenings and follow-up testing. The clinic is staffed by six Audiologists, three of whom are proficient in American Sign Language (ASL), English and Spanish.
