Through the use of the Casey Life Skills Curriculum and the Life Centered Career Education curriculum, and working closely with TLC’s Transition Services and the Career and Technology Education Program, the residential program provides structure and community-based opportunities for students to master the following skills: Personal Finance, Home Management, Food and Nutrition, Decision-Making and Problem-Solving, Community Resources, Transportation, Clothing Care and Purchases.
The program teaches independent living skills and functional life skills through structured rotation of household responsibilities, which includes but is not limited to cleaning, food shopping, basic meal planning, and banking.

We offer a variety of field trips, monthly Independent Living Skills sessions and monthly guest speakers come to our residences. Students also have the opportunity to volunteer, play sports or obtain a part time job/internship.
Students have access to laundry, kitchen and a computer lab.
The residences are the places where students continue learning after school with ASL communication access and support from staff to thrive their Independent Living Skills.
The student must be able to self-regulate, has a level of independent functioning already, is interested in participating in after school activities and further develop independent living skills.
Staff are required to be engaged with their students at all times. Staff should be activity observing students and ensuring student safety and well-being. Staff should always be proactive in supervising students, walking around at times in order to monitor all areas. Staff should also encourage students to fully participate in the present activity. Staff should position themselves to be spread throughout an area to ensure best possible supervision. At any time a student is in the kitchen, a staff person must be present to supervise.
At the beginning of the year, staff will review the “House Expectations” with students. We follow the Code of Conduct in the Secondary Handbook.
Yes, parents are welcome to visit their children in their residence at any time.
Students can bring or keep food that belongs to them in the refrigerator with their name on it.
