Parent Infant Program (PIP)

The Learning Center recognizes and respects that the most important learning environment for children during their first three years is the one created at home and is committed to helping parents navigate the various options available to their family.  Our Parent Infant Program has been in existence since 1979 and was the first program in the country to have a deaf Parent Infant Coordinator.  

The Parent Infant Program provides support and training for both the deaf child and his or her parents/guardians. Families are referred to us through their local Early Intervention centers and are invited to participate in parent support groups, child playgroups, home visits, individual sessions with a licensed Speech/Language Pathologist and classes in American Sign Language. Services received at The Learning Center will be incorporated into a child’s IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan).


Our “PIP” program is housed in our comprehensive Early Childhood Center, serving children from infancy through kindergarten.  Our staff is trained and our facility is well designed to meet the developmental needs of young children.
